  • Author: Olivia
  • Total Time: 27 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Description

These Turkey Stuffing Balls are a delicious and comforting holiday-inspired appetizer or side dish. Made with a blend of mashed potatoes, savory stuffing, and shredded turkey, they can be baked for a lighter option or pan-fried for a crispy, golden crust. Served hot with rich gravy and optional cranberry sauce, they bring a festive touch to any meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 3 cups mashed potatoes
  • 3 cups stuffing
  • 1½ cups shredded turkey
  • Black pepper to taste

For Serving

  • Gravy for serving
  • Cranberry sauce (optional)

Optional for Pan-Frying

  • Panko breadcrumbs
  • Butter or oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prep Ingredients: Bring all ingredients to room temperature. Warm the mashed potatoes slightly if they have been refrigerated. If the stuffing is dry, moisten it with a little broth to improve texture.
  2. Mix & Form: In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes and stuffing thoroughly. Fold in the shredded turkey evenly. Season the mixture with black pepper to your taste. Then, shape the mixture into 12 golf ball-sized portions.
  3. Choose Your Method – Baked Version: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the formed balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the balls are heated through and the exterior is slightly crispy.
  4. Choose Your Method – Pan-Fried Version: Roll each ball in panko breadcrumbs to coat. Heat butter or oil in a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Fry the balls gently, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides.
  5. Serve: Serve the turkey stuffing balls immediately while hot. Top them with warm gravy and, if desired, a spoonful of cranberry sauce for a festive flavor.

Notes

  • For a lighter option, bake the stuffing balls instead of frying.
  • If the mixture feels too wet, add more stuffing or breadcrumbs to help it hold shape.
  • Leftover balls can be reheated in the oven to maintain their texture.
  • Use homemade stuffing and mashed potatoes for best flavor.
  • These can be made ahead and refrigerated before cooking.
