Ingredients
Scale
Dry Ingredients
- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon (freshly ground for best flavor)
Wet Ingredients
- 2 large Eggs (at room temperature)
- 1/2 cup Maple Syrup (pure maple syrup recommended)
- 1/2 cup Milk (whole or non-dairy options allowed)
- 1/4 cup Butter (melted and slightly cooled)
Glaze
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
- 2 tablespoons Milk (to mix with powdered sugar)
Instructions
- Preparation: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8 inch baking dish with greased parchment paper for easy removal after baking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon until evenly combined.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, pure maple syrup, milk, and melted butter together until smooth and fully incorporated.
- Mix Batter: Gently fold the wet mixture into the dry ingredients just until combined, taking care not to over-mix to keep the bars tender.
- Bake: Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool: Allow the bars to cool in the baking dish for about 10 minutes before carefully transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare Glaze & Drizzle: Mix the powdered sugar with 2 tablespoons of milk until smooth to form the glaze. Drizzle the glaze evenly over the cooled bars before serving.
Notes
- For best results, use room temperature eggs to allow for better mixing.
- Freshly ground cinnamon enhances the flavor, but pre-ground cinnamon can also be used.
- You can substitute whole milk with any non-dairy milk like almond or oat milk.
- Ensure butter is melted but slightly cooled to avoid cooking the eggs when mixing.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to one week.
- Feel free to add chopped nuts or chocolate chips to the batter for added texture and flavor.
