Description

This Ranch Chicken Crock Pot recipe is a creamy, flavorful, and easy-to-make meal featuring tender chicken breasts cooked slowly in a ranch seasoning and cream of chicken soup sauce. Perfect for busy days, it requires minimal prep and can be served with your favorite sides for a comforting dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Seasoning

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix (about 1 oz)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Sauce

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Optional Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for searing)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Sear the chicken (optional): Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Sear the chicken breasts for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown to add extra flavor.
  2. Prepare the sauce: In the crockpot, combine the cream of chicken soup, ranch seasoning mix, chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir well to form a smooth sauce.
  3. Add chicken to crockpot: Place the chicken breasts into the crockpot, coating them thoroughly with the prepared sauce.
  4. Cook: Cover and cook on low heat for 6-7 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
  5. Shred the chicken: Once cooked, remove the chicken breasts and shred them using two forks, then return the shredded chicken into the crockpot and stir it into the sauce.
  6. Finish with sour cream and garnish: Stir in the sour cream to add creaminess and richness. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and fresh parsley if desired before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, searing the chicken before slow cooking is recommended but optional.
  • You can substitute the cream of chicken soup with a homemade white sauce to avoid processed ingredients.
  • If you prefer a thicker sauce, remove the lid during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  • Serve this ranch chicken with rice, mashed potatoes, or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 3 days and freeze well for up to 2 months.
