Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Wings
- 1.5 lbs chicken wings
Marinade
- 1/2 cup pineapple juice
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 jalapeños, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Additional
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for greasing)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Wings: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Rinse the chicken wings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Place them in a large mixing bowl preparing them for the marinade.
- Make the Marinade: In a separate bowl, combine the pineapple juice, brown sugar, chopped jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, soy sauce, and black pepper. Whisk until the brown sugar dissolves and the ingredients are fully blended.
- Marinate Wings: Pour the marinade over the chicken wings in the bowl, tossing to coat evenly. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, up to 2 hours to deepen the flavor.
- Prepare Baking Setup: Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. Lightly grease the wire rack with olive oil to prevent sticking.
- Arrange Wings for Baking: Remove the wings from the marinade, letting excess liquid drip off. Place them in a single layer on the wire rack. Reserve the remaining marinade for later use.
- Bake the Wings: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until the wings are golden and crispy. Halfway through baking, brush the wings with some of the reserved marinade for extra flavor and moisture.
- Optional Broil for Crispiness: For an extra crispy finish, switch your oven to broil and cook the wings for an additional 3-5 minutes, watching carefully to avoid burning.
- Serve: Remove the wings from the oven and allow them to rest for a few minutes. Serve warm, optionally garnished with additional chopped jalapeños for extra heat and presentation.
Notes
- Marinating longer, up to 2 hours, will intensify the flavor of the wings.
- Using a wire rack while baking helps achieve crispier wings by allowing air circulation.
- Be cautious with broiling time to avoid burning the sugar in the marinade.
- Adjust jalapeño quantity to control the spice level to your preference.
- Leftover marinade can be boiled and used as a glaze but should be cooked thoroughly to eliminate raw chicken contamination risk.
