Ingredients
Scale
Meat and Protein
- 1 pound ground chuck
- 8 hot dogs
Chili Sauce
- 1 (14.5 ounce) can petite diced tomatoes
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 cup water
Casserole and Toppings
- 8 low carb tortillas or wraps
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Nonstick cooking spray (for greasing the casserole dish)
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F. Lightly spray a 9×13 inch casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Make Chili Sauce: In a medium saucepan, combine the cooked ground chuck, petite diced tomatoes, water, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried oregano. Bring this mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chili thickens nicely.
- Assemble Casserole Base: Spoon a layer of the chili sauce into the bottom of the prepared casserole dish to create a flavorful base.
- Wrap Hot Dogs: Roll each hot dog in a low-carb tortilla, ensuring they are wrapped securely, then place them seam-side down in the casserole dish on top of the chili sauce layer.
- Add Remaining Sauce and Cheese: Pour the remaining chili sauce evenly over the wrapped hot dogs. Then, generously sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top to cover the casserole.
- Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and the casserole is set.
- Cool and Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with your favorite keto-friendly toppings if desired.
Notes
- You can use any type of ground beef or ground meat instead of ground chuck if preferred.
- Low-carb tortillas are essential to keep the dish keto-friendly—do not substitute with regular tortillas.
- For extra flavor, add diced jalapeños or a splash of hot sauce to the chili sauce mixture.
- Make sure to place the hot dogs seam-side down to prevent the tortillas from unrolling during baking.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
