Description

Heavenly Peach Bread is a moist and flavorful quick bread bursting with fresh peach pieces and topped with a luscious peach glaze. Perfect for summer breakfasts or as a delightful dessert, this bread combines the sweetness of ripe peaches with a tender crumb and a smooth, fruity glaze for an irresistible treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups fresh peaches, diced

Glaze Ingredients

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/3 cup finely diced peaches
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 tablespoons heavy cream (if needed)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven and Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan thoroughly to ensure the bread doesn’t stick during baking.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, whole milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift or whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt to evenly distribute the leavening agents and salt.
  4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a spatula or wooden spoon just until combined; avoid overmixing to ensure tender bread.
  5. Add Fresh Peaches: Carefully fold in the diced fresh peaches into the batter, distributing them evenly without breaking them down.
  6. Bake the Bread: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 55 to 60 minutes. The bread should be golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.
  7. Cool the Bread: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then remove it from the pan and place on a wire rack to cool completely before glazing.
  8. Prepare the Peach Glaze: In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar, melted butter, finely diced peaches, and vanilla extract until smooth. If the glaze is too thick, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of heavy cream to reach desired consistency.
  9. Glaze the Bread: Once the bread is fully cooled, spread the peach glaze evenly over the top. Let the glaze set slightly before slicing and serving for a heavenly finish.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm peaches to avoid too much moisture that can make the bread soggy.
  • If fresh peaches are not in season, frozen peaches thawed and drained can be used as a substitute.
  • Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread light and tender.
  • Allow the bread to cool completely before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting off.
  • Store leftover bread wrapped in plastic or in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
