Scale
Bread Ingredients
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups fresh peaches, diced
Glaze Ingredients
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1/3 cup finely diced peaches
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1–2 tablespoons heavy cream (if needed)
Instructions
- Prepare the Oven and Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan thoroughly to ensure the bread doesn’t stick during baking.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, whole milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, sift or whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt to evenly distribute the leavening agents and salt.
- Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a spatula or wooden spoon just until combined; avoid overmixing to ensure tender bread.
- Add Fresh Peaches: Carefully fold in the diced fresh peaches into the batter, distributing them evenly without breaking them down.
- Bake the Bread: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 55 to 60 minutes. The bread should be golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.
- Cool the Bread: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then remove it from the pan and place on a wire rack to cool completely before glazing.
- Prepare the Peach Glaze: In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar, melted butter, finely diced peaches, and vanilla extract until smooth. If the glaze is too thick, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of heavy cream to reach desired consistency.
- Glaze the Bread: Once the bread is fully cooled, spread the peach glaze evenly over the top. Let the glaze set slightly before slicing and serving for a heavenly finish.
Notes
- Use ripe but firm peaches to avoid too much moisture that can make the bread soggy.
- If fresh peaches are not in season, frozen peaches thawed and drained can be used as a substitute.
- Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread light and tender.
- Allow the bread to cool completely before glazing to prevent the glaze from melting off.
- Store leftover bread wrapped in plastic or in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
