  • Author: Olivia
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 8-10 servings 1x

Description

This Halloween Buffalo Chicken Dip is a spooky and flavorful party appetizer featuring shredded chicken mixed with spicy buffalo sauce layered over creamy cream cheese, topped with ranch dressing and playful ghost-shaped mozzarella cheese slices. Baked until hot and bubbly, it’s perfect for serving with chips, crackers, or veggies at Halloween parties or game nights.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, shredded
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 12 cups buffalo sauce (adjust to spice preference)
  • 1/4 cup ranch dressing
  • 1/2 lb mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 1 tube black writing gel (for decorating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the dip.
  2. Coat Chicken with Sauce: Place shredded chicken and buffalo sauce into a large plastic bag. Mix thoroughly until all chicken pieces are evenly coated with the buffalo sauce.
  3. Prepare Baking Dish: Spread the softened cream cheese evenly on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish, creating a creamy base layer.
  4. Layer Buffalo Chicken: Arrange the buffalo sauce-coated chicken in a single layer over the cream cheese layer in the baking dish.
  5. Add Ranch Dressing: Pour the ranch dressing evenly on top of the buffalo chicken layer without mixing it in, allowing distinct layers.
  6. Create Cheese Ghosts: Use a cookie cutter to cut ghost shapes out of the mozzarella cheese slices for a festive Halloween touch.
  7. Top with Cheese Ghosts: Place the ghost-shaped mozzarella slices on top of the chicken mixture, ensuring the ghosts do not overlap for even baking and a fun appearance.
  8. Bake the Dip: Bake the layered dish in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.
  9. Decorate Ghost Faces: Remove the dish from the oven and use the black writing gel to draw eyes and mouths on each mozzarella ghost to bring the decoration to life.
  10. Serve Warm: Serve the dip warm with an assortment of dippers such as chips, bread slices, crackers, and fresh vegetables.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of buffalo sauce to control the heat level of the dip.
  • Use lactose-free cream cheese if you need to accommodate lactose intolerance.
  • The writing gel is optional and can be substituted with small pieces of olives or peppercorns for the eyes and mouth.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in the oven or microwave.
  • For a thicker dip, use less ranch dressing or add more cream cheese.
