Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast, shredded
- 16 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1–2 cups buffalo sauce (adjust to spice preference)
- 1/4 cup ranch dressing
- 1/2 lb mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 1 tube black writing gel (for decorating)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the dip.
- Coat Chicken with Sauce: Place shredded chicken and buffalo sauce into a large plastic bag. Mix thoroughly until all chicken pieces are evenly coated with the buffalo sauce.
- Prepare Baking Dish: Spread the softened cream cheese evenly on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish, creating a creamy base layer.
- Layer Buffalo Chicken: Arrange the buffalo sauce-coated chicken in a single layer over the cream cheese layer in the baking dish.
- Add Ranch Dressing: Pour the ranch dressing evenly on top of the buffalo chicken layer without mixing it in, allowing distinct layers.
- Create Cheese Ghosts: Use a cookie cutter to cut ghost shapes out of the mozzarella cheese slices for a festive Halloween touch.
- Top with Cheese Ghosts: Place the ghost-shaped mozzarella slices on top of the chicken mixture, ensuring the ghosts do not overlap for even baking and a fun appearance.
- Bake the Dip: Bake the layered dish in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.
- Decorate Ghost Faces: Remove the dish from the oven and use the black writing gel to draw eyes and mouths on each mozzarella ghost to bring the decoration to life.
- Serve Warm: Serve the dip warm with an assortment of dippers such as chips, bread slices, crackers, and fresh vegetables.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of buffalo sauce to control the heat level of the dip.
- Use lactose-free cream cheese if you need to accommodate lactose intolerance.
- The writing gel is optional and can be substituted with small pieces of olives or peppercorns for the eyes and mouth.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in the oven or microwave.
- For a thicker dip, use less ranch dressing or add more cream cheese.
