French Dip Tortilla Roll Ups Recipe

  • Author: Olivia
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings (1 tortilla roll up per serving) 1x

Description

French Dip Tortilla Roll Ups are a delicious twist on the classic French dip sandwich, featuring thinly sliced roast beef and melted mozzarella or provolone cheese wrapped in warm flour tortillas. Baked until golden and served with a flavorful homemade au jus dipping sauce, these roll ups are the perfect savory appetizer or hearty snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Roll Ups

  • 1 lb thinly sliced roast beef (deli style or leftover)
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

Au Jus Sauce

  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easy.
  2. Assemble Roll Ups: Lay the flour tortillas flat and evenly layer thinly sliced roast beef and shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese down the center of each tortilla.
  3. Roll Tortillas: Tightly roll each tortilla starting from the edge with the fillings and place them seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet to prevent unrolling during baking.
  4. Butter and Season: Brush the rolled tortillas with melted butter to promote browning, then sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, and dried parsley for added flavor and aroma.
  5. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the tortillas turn golden brown and the cheese inside melts completely.
  6. Prepare Au Jus: While the roll ups bake, prepare the dipping sauce by combining beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a saucepan over medium heat. Simmer the mixture for 5 to 7 minutes to develop a rich and savory flavor.
  7. Serve: Once baked, remove the roll ups from the oven and slice them into bite-sized pieces if desired. Serve warm alongside the freshly made au jus for dipping.

Notes

  • You can use leftover roast beef or deli-style thinly sliced roast beef depending on convenience.
  • If you prefer a spicier kick, add a sprinkle of crushed red pepper flakes to the butter brush before baking.
  • Make sure to tightly roll the tortillas and place them seam-side down to prevent unrolling during baking.
  • The au jus can be made ahead and kept warm; just reheat before serving.
  • For a gluten-free option, substitute flour tortillas with gluten-free tortillas.
